Become A Winner In Life And Business
Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling like you don’t want to work today? Or you simply don’t want to deal with your boss? If yes to both questions, then you need to look at this article. One thing is for sure; you are not alone!
“The supreme excellence is not to win a hundred victories in a hundred battles. The supreme excellence is to subdue the armies of your enemies without even having to fight them.” – Lao Tzu
I sometimes wonder how I got to the point I am today. Then I remember my sleepless nights and constant studies with a smile. Honestly, I never thought that one day I will have the chance to tell a story on perseverance and how it can really help you succeed.
What Is Perseverance?
This is basically doing something, for instance, hitting the gym constantly, studying hard or simply going to work every single day without quitting for a long period with an objective in mind. If you really want to succeed, then this is one of the key ingredients. It doesn’t matter what is in your way. This is something you have to do to make your dreams a reality. Therefore, don’t stop trying.
We all crave for vacations and early retirement which I must admit sounds like small heaven on earth. But there’s something that you are easily forgetting; the goals you had in place when you first started working.
The only reason you feel tired is that you are in a phase of self-pity. You need to find a way out of that zone. It doesn’t do you any good. With that in mind, let me give you an example of how perseverance actually led to victory.
The Unwavering Faith Of Job
This was one of my favorite stories as a kid. I couldn’t really understand how a man would let someone decimate his entire family all in the name of testing his faith. But as I grew up, I learned how to appreciate his conviction and practice it in my daily routine.
If you are willing to go through the hardships in life, then be sure of a fruitful finish. There’s nothing that comes easy even for a man of faith like Job. He believed in God even in the worst of times (James 5: 10-11). Finally, the Lord rewarded his faith and Job lived a happy life.
Trying Times Of The Apostle Paul
The life of Apostle Paul is a real example of perseverance. He went through the hardest times in history. In 2 Corinthians, he gives an experience of his missionary life and how the people put him in prison for preaching the word of God. He was also stoned, beaten with a rod among other nasty experiences while doing God’s work.
In the end, we see the joy of perseverance in 2 Timothy chapter 4 that God has reserved a crown of righteousness. As you can see, this wasn’t an easy experience but Paul went through the entire ordeal with confidence. Most of all, his faith never changed.
The Strongest Man In The Bible: Samson
Everyone has in one way or the other, heard the story about the strongest man in the Bible. He was a true soldier and protected his people. Imagine coming face to face with a thousand men and still walking out alive without chickening out. On top of that, Samson didn’t have any technological advancements to help him. On the contrary, he only had a piece of bone picked out from the floor.
The story of Samson and Delilah found in the book of Judges 16 is one that no one should forget. Due to his love for Delilah, his secret was discovered. In an instant, his strength went away and Samson became a trophy to the Philistines. His eyes were gouged out while the Philistines punished him for a fan. It was in this trying times that he was able to persevere the hardest tests.
More importantly, his faith was still in check. And finally, he prayed to God and got his strength back only to kill all the Philistines in the temple along with himself. With one single act, he killed more Philistines than he had ever in his life.
Don’t worry, you’ve read the entire Bible and there’s no one with the name Michael Jordan in it. But however, I believe that he is also a worthy role model. I’m sure, you are trying to remember where you actually read about this man; that’s if you are not a basketball fan.
If you love basketball, then this name comes easily to your mind. He is one of the greatest NBA players of all time. But it wasn’t always like this. During his high school years, the coach kicked him out of the basketball team. And somehow, he came back on the court stronger and better. The coach never knew that Jordan will later win at least 6 championships and at least 5 MVPs.
He once said that he has lost over 300 games and missed about 9000 shots in his career. However, that never stops him. He fails over and over again but keeps trying every day. That’s actually the reason he succeeds according to Jordan.
None of the above people have an easy time in their lives. To sum it all up, perseverance is what really keeps them going. No matter how hard it gets, believe me, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. You simply need to get there.
More to that, you need to give yourself self-confidence. Continue believing in your abilities to succeed. The only way you can get to your goals is by taking full ownership of them. You entire destiny is all in your hands.
In conclusion, our bodies for some reason or the other will always look for a way to rest. But with training and consistency, you will achieve your dreams. On top of that, don’t expect the road to be smooth. You will obviously have hard times that will feel like the end of the world. The key is to persevere through them with your goals in your mind. That way, you will be able to stay on your objective and succeed.
