Jennifer Lawrence: 7 Essential Tips For Success

Fight hard for what you want, trust your gut, and never stop being yourself!

You will probably remember her the most from The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence started her acting career in 2006, and with its ups and downs, she has made it to the top.

She is incredibly beautiful, nobody can deny that, but the reason she is so popular these days is that she is an extremely talented young woman who isn’t scared of standing for what she believes in.

Jennifer was born on August 15, 1990. To the date, her films have made more than 6 billion dollars all over the world and she became the highest-paid actress in 2015 and 2016, those years were released both parts of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and Joy, movies that gave many awards, including Best Actress in the Academy Award.

She is certainly quite an interesting personality and today, I would like to tell you 8 interesting things about her life.

I promise you won’t leave Savvy101.Life without wanting to check her movies or learning a couple of things from her personal life.

1. Her Family Didn’t Support Her Very Much

Sometimes we know at a shortage what we want to do with our lives, and that’s exactly what happened to Jennifer. Since she was a little girl she wanted to be an actress.

Actually, she got her first acting role when she was nine years old;

After that first opportunity, she kept playing roles in school musicals and church plays, not only because she was very talented, but because she suffered from hyperactivity and anxiety, afflictions that disappeared when she was on stage.

When she was 14, she was on a family vacation in New York and was caught by a talent seeker on the street, he asked her to audition for some agents, but her mother did not let her do so.

In fact, her mom was so serious about not letting her pursue her acting career that she convinced Jennifer that the agents were lying to her when they said she was one of the best young undiscovered actresses they have seen.

In the end, her mother gave up and JLaw dedicated her entire life to acting, even dropped out of school at age 14 to do this.

2. She Wasn’t Very Feminine When She Was Little

Her favorite activities back in school were softball, hockey and basketball, she even played on a boys’ team coached by her father.

It’s been said that she wasn’t allowed to play team sports with other girls because she was a bit rougher than them, she was also a tomboy but that didn’t stop her from being part of the cheerleading team as well.

3. She Auditioned For Many Movies She Didn’t Get

And maybe it was for the best, because one of those movies was Twilight.

Not to be rude or anything, everyone has the right to enjoy their kind of cinema, but considering all the criticism and script issues Twilight had, maybe the best thing that happened to Jennifer’s career was not being Bella Swan.

4. She Was Very Close To Reject The Movie That Launched Her To The Sky

We know Jennifer from her role as Mystique in the X-Men franchise (which by the way is getting her own movie in 2019) and from The Hunger Games.

This last four-movie role was what made her popular in the world, Katniss was a character for young adults and teenagers, but Jennifer made it attractive also for adults and in our hearts, she will always be The Mocking Jay.

Surprisingly, she almost turned down that role! Jennifer was very aware of the damage that Kristen Stewart took from starring Twilight, and she was a bit scared that the same could happen to her since both movies had a young target.

Fortunately, she changed her mind three days later.

5. She Had To Fight To Get One Of Her Security Deposits Back

This happens to us mortals, but also to big stars like Jennifer.

Applying her Mystique blue makeup for X-Men: First Class took around eight hours, and you can imagine how hard it was to get it off her entire body.

When she was filming the movie in London, she had to fight hard to get her security deposit back because she had stained the bathtub with blue paint.

I don’t know if she got it back though.

6. She Is Quite An Authentic Person

We often hear celebrities are hard to approach and sometimes too stiff, but this doesn’t seem to be Jennifer’s problem.

Actually, she is such a normal person that she swears a lot, she stained many outfits on the set of American Hustle for eating Doritos, and once she wore a revealing dress on a very cold afternoon and got many feminist criticisms because they thought she was forced to wear it under those weather conditions.

She replied with a strong Facebook post saying she wore it because she wanted and I quote: “That Versace dress was fabulous, you think I’m going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf? I was outside for 5 minutes.”

7. She Takes Her Job Very Seriously

In my experience, when you are determined to do something, you will do it.

And I believe Jennifer Lawrence knows this too. She worked very hard to be where she is, she quit everything she knew to pursue her acting career, and now that she is in it, she is not giving it up so easily.

Jennifer trained with a four-time Olympian archer to prepare her role as Katniss for The Hunger Games, training sessions were hard, but it came out spectacularly.

And for her role in Winter’s Bone, she almost didn’t get it because the producers thought “she was too pretty for the story”. She didn’t like that decision, so she hopped a red-eye to New York, walked thirteen blocks under the snow and presented herself to the audition without washing her hair for a week…

Apparently, her dedication paid off because she not only got the role, but her first Oscar nomination for that character.

If you ask me, this talented young girl has remained true to her roots and she is killing it in Hollywood. To be nominated in the same category as Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster is a huge honor, but getting this distinction at age 27? Even better.
